Marma Therapy: Ayurvedic Acupressure
Marma therapy is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that focuses on stimulating specific energy points in the body, known as marma points, to promote physical and mental well-being. These points are believed to be intersections of muscles, veins, ligaments, bones, and joints, and by applying pressure or massage to them, practitioners aim to balance the body's energy flow, reduce stress, enhance circulation, and support overall health.
Marma therapy uses light touch applied to balance specific energy channels of the body. I use my fingertips and a special tool called a kanza wand to work with these potent energy centers to bring ease and balance.
This intuitive body work can help balance energy and move stagnation supporting optimal function and sense of well-being.
Marma therapy is often combined with other bodywork modalities like shirodhara and a full body oil application to address specific complaints, symptoms, or imbalances.
